Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Dil toh pagal NAHI hai!!!

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Dil toh pagal NAHI hai!!!

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil comes from the Director whose grandeur is grandiose and appealing.  Ae Dil Hai Mushkil purely wins your heart because of its lead cast, that is right there on the screen performing at high tempo leaving no space for any other actors and you don’t even want anybody but these three. Ranbir Kapoor though repetitive shines yet again brilliantly as Ayan and wins you over so does Anushka Sharma; She has evolved as an actor beautifully, succeeds to win-over the hearts as Alizeh showcases her strength of act at a wider spectrum. Aishwarya Rai comes as a fresh breeze after ages on screen as ageless beauty and does her part at ease. Yet the soul Kjo movies usually carry misses the beat in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

The story is not that something which we have not come across. The closest to the plot of what I recall is Dil Toh Pagal Hai debating the same Mohabbhat kya Hai, Zindagi hai, dosti hai.

All those beautiful lines you heard already in the trailer does form part of the whole film but doesn’t really offer anything additional. This is where the film falls short of our expectations. High Expectations from a Karan Johar Movie is obvious, he does raises the bar each time and this time the cast is what delivers and crawls to meet our expectations. One SRK scene does steals the heart, does adds value to the conversation making it interesting making you think over of what you just heard. The magic is still there, just that, Kjo needs to spin it better.

Ayan aspiring singer is busy handling relationships be it Lisa Haydon or Anushka in the first hour, its brewing time for the two hotties to grow some chemistry, being filmy they do bring in some good time but it doesn’t really takes the plot ahead at times it comes out real flat. Have it been some other cast, it could have been quite mushkil to sail through these 40-45 minutes. Only nearly after 45minutes of run-time. Anushka Sharma ‘s character Alizeh is unwrapped to what she is upto other than being a girlfriend. Aishwarya Rai is the poet who appears post interval and has a role that appeals but doesn’t has much length. The ageless beauty does come across as the woman next door. It is Ranbir Kapoor & Anushka Sharma who steal the show along with one SRK scene.

The background score really carries lot of baggage from Kjo’s earlier movies so much so that it comes as a parody. The consistent background score is what the film is deprived of making the love story a bit shallow. The terminal illness is what it leads to making two bold and beautiful people go bald that doesn’t really come as cool as they tried to showcase. It puts you at a discomfort and the See-Saw chemistry Anushka-Ranbir holds doesn’t really keeps your interest for long making you sulk in your seat.

Having all said, it is Ranbir and Anushka who make Ae Dil Hai Mushkil a bit Aasaan to watch.

Verdict: Just Silver***
