Dangal – Chak De with a Twist.
Scooter, country, girls and a Khan. Wrestling instead of Hockey. Rising India to the Glory, striking Gold triumphing towards the victory is all what Dangal is gonna be all about.
The trailer in itself is a short film and doesn’t really appeal to watch the whole thing until unless you aren’t an Amir Khan fan. But who isn’t is the question?
All the khan’s make it up to the one-time watch category with their super-buzz around and marketing strategies and Amir is no less. What makes a film success is its repeat value with these Khan’s who do take their audience for granted with movies like Fan, Happy New Year, Dhoom3. Other than Salman Khan who just takes intelligence for granted otherwise delivers what audience expects from him. He over delivers with a film like Sultan taking his audience to a surprise. That’s a separate analysis altogether.
Coming back to Dangal, the trailer showcases Amir’s Dangal to fulfill his dream via his genes producing a son who would ring in the gold medal, alas he is blessed with baby girls; girl after girl. Sakshi Tanvar probably has the role of her life producing the three triumphs in the span of 3 hours. Though the film is not biased on genders, neither is the sport, it takes little while for Aamir to consider his girls on the sport and when he does; there is no stopping. You will hear lines for women empowerment, you will see him nurturing his girls to the power that would triumph the victory. And yes for the film to become an inspiration they do win. You would also see Amir in a Dhoom3 avatar without creating any curiosity it is easily anticipated to what he is upto.
We only wish more than the process the content is being worked upon. Soon the films would stop ridings on the Khan Tag alone and the audience would be appealed by nothing but the content. Than be it Ayushman Khurana or Amir Khan.
The director’s filmography hasn’t been that great other than Chillar Party. Kill Dil was just about ok. Dangal with Amir khan in the film does give him that mileage, whether or not the film will win hearts in galore or not, stay tuned here.
