FAN – Lunatic Fanatic Not Fantastic.

Fan coming from the house of YRF films – disappoints. The Khans when they don double roles; expectations are sky rocket high right from the beginning. Salman Khan disappointed with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. SRK too disappoints with FAN. The actors are rock solid with their sheer magnum presence it is the plot that has gone wrong with FAN too. Though it doesn’t bore yet fails to connect you with either of the Khan be it Gaurav or be it Aryan Khanna. But as a SRK Fan you are surely disappointed with the films output. Don’t care about the box office. It’s a Khan.

The Film is titled FAN – the title itself connects with all of us as we all play FAN ourselves to some or the other star actor or a person we admire; they become our inspirations most of the times; making us optimistic than making us lunatic. FAN here is too extremist so much that the only goal in his life is to satisfy his ego harming his inspiration for one Sorry. Ego Kills. A mere apology turns into an obsession; it ends up harming the person he admired, loved for 25 years; craving to fulfill his ego. Fan Fails.

Indeed, stardom comes at a cost; FAN does showcases this fact but logically this concept is executed very poorly; so much so that the King Khan Aryan Khanna is running on the streets challenging his IQ level to catch his imposter. The stars live so much in their reel life and for them in the real life too law and order doesn’t exist. Someone who is admired at a high level; plays real dumb showcasing his arrogance. Wish they could have separated SRK from Aryan Khanna or even if that was intentional; it doesn’t come out intellectual. I entered the theater late to notice the “Fictitious” characters disclaimer – This one is highly inspired by true events of SRKs life and the writer is webbed poorly in his reel and real life. Sid Kapoor was the caricature incident that becomes the gateway for junior Aryan (Gaurav-Fan) to reach out to his superstar not knowing the path he has chosen is not right. Aryan Khanna what he does is something that doesn’t help us decide if he did was right or wrong. Using the Star Power making the Police work with no records – probably records would have helped save him in the second half this is where the films IQ script falters badly. Both the characters are not shaped well for you to feel for anybody. Fan doesn’t have any attributes as a FAN you would connect with. The Star Aryan Khanna aka SRK shines better in real life in the reels of Fan.

FAN could have connected with millions of us fails to strike a chord. Great Subject Poor Execution.
