Review: #GULABOSITABO – DISAPPOINTING!!!

GENRE

Comedy

RELEASE DATE

12th June 2020

CAST

Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurana, Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kala, Farrukh Jafar

Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi bring sheer magic to the screen, always. This time they fail. Performances yes, we have Mr. Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana and decent support cast too, yet none of the characters shine enough to make you sit through this entire movie. The plot Kills the film’s libido to watch it till the end.

Since I planned to review I completed the film in two parts which is usually not the case. The film now that you are not watching on the Big Screen where probably you have allotted those hours spending on a ticket, it may not be easy to move out of the theater, be it a special show or a regular show. Film on OTT demands respect against your time when you already have so many options. An half an hour of boredom can lead you to scroll over the next film. Gulabo Sitabo is tremendously boring with a pinch of humor here and there.

If at all you succeed to sit through the film past 45 min at one go, chances are you might complete but most will skip to the next more appealing alternate. The quirkiness of the title, the trailer appeal, the cast, the writer director duo all falls flat when you see the film. Yes after a boring meal they serve you a great desert, but for you to relish the desert they do take away your appetite for the same leaving you with a hogged time.

The film on technical front too is no great either, but probably this is where probably we lack the theater experience. The cinematography, background score, primary music also fails to register.  Just couple of scene where you feel the glimpse of Lucknow, the audio jukebox holds film though has not much songs, yet the passable songs too doesn’t make much impact.

Yet one can’t judge the film by its theater or OTT Experience, the primary reason for film to win your heart over all these parameters is still Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment and Gulabo Sitabo fails to entertain.

Yet if you are willing to spend your time for the fan you have been to Shoojit Sircar & Juhi’s work. You can give it a try.

PK verdict: Tin**
